Abstract

In an era characterized by the disaggregation of audiences in audio-visual media, Game of Thrones was the last moment in which there was a global convergence of the public on a television content. The purpose of this text is to raise a set of hypotheses to justify this phenomenon, based on the analysis of the main ingredients of the series: the combination of humour, violence and eroticism, the association of fantastic elements with historical references and the use of real scenarios, recognizable despite their digital manipulation.

The particular trajectory that characterizes the relationship between the series and the narrative of the books is also important for this essay, especially from the moment in which George R. R. Martin's texts could not constitute a reference for the script, because the series went beyond the contents of the published volumes.
