Abstract

The objective of this investigation was to discuss how in Incidente em Antares (2013), by Erico Verissimo, the humor moves in a fantastic, ambivalent, apocalyptic atmosphere, to transgress the limits of the possible and the impossible, leading us to reflection and criticism of the political and social upheavals, in a country on the eve of a dictatorship. We analyze how the mysteries of the fantastic invade not only the daily lives of the living, but also of the dead, who cannot accept the laceration of the normal course of the post-mortem process and want the reinstatement of normality. To construct the analyses, this work is anchored in the theoretical corpus based on Furtado (1980), Reisz (2001), Propp (1992), Bergson (1983), Campra (2008), Eagleton (2020), Roas (2022) and Boccuti (2018). We observe that, as the bodies rot, the hypocrisy and crimes of some authorities are exposed.
