Author Guidelines

Submission

  • All contributions must be submitted online through the Open Journal System (OJS). To do this, proponents must be registered in the system.
  • If you are not registered, you must register to obtain a password. By registering as an author, you can also indicate your willingness to be a reviewer of the H2D Journal.
  • Registration in the system is necessary not only for the submission of contributions, but also to follow the editorial process.
  • Submission and publication of contributions in the H2D Journal has no costs for authors.

Formatting and other relevant information

  • H2D Journal accepts scientific articles, miscellaneous items (interviews, reviews, and other multimodal and audiovisual content) in the field of Digital Humanities for publication.

  • Original contributions written in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian and English are accepted, respecting the orthographic standards of each language. All contributions proposed for publication in the H2D Journal that are written in Portuguese follow the provisions of the Portuguese Language Agreement, in force since 2009.
  • Articles can be full papers (up to 10,000 words excluding references) or short papers (from 2,000 to 3.000 words excluding references).
  • In the case of articles, the title, abstract and keywords should be in the language of the contribution and in English (abstract and keywords). If the language of the contribution is English, these elements must be translated into one of the remaining working languages of the Journal (Portuguese, Spanish, French or Italian).
  • Published contributions and images (if any) are the responsibility of the respective authors.
  • The acknowledgments and endorsements should be included at the end of the contribution, indicating any sources of funding, specific framework projects or any other data related to the work to be published.
  • All articles will be subject to open peer review, which means there is no anonymization: authors know the identity of reviewers and vice versa. The reviewers' reports are not published.
  • Miscellaneous (interviews, reviews) and content for H2D Live will be subject to editorial review. When a miscellaneous or H2D Live contribution presents a research component comparable to a scientific article, it is forwarded for open peer review, similar to article submissions.

  • Articles submitted must strictly adhere to the journal's formatting guidelines, under penalty of rejection. This journal adopts the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th edition style as the standard for in-text citations and reference formatting. Through the following links, authors have access to the formatting guidelines as well as to a template prepared according to these guidelines, from which they may draft their paper:
