Call for Papers – IACOBUS Journal (Inaugural Edition)

The IACOBUS Journal, the first scientific journal of the Galicia–North of Portugal Euroregion, invites researchers, professors, students, and other innovation ecosystem actors to submit articles for its inaugural issue, to be published in 2026.

The journal's mission is to promote cooperation between institutions in Galicia and Northern Portugal, disseminate scientific knowledge generated in the Euroregion, and foster its practical application in response to regional and global challenges.

This initiative emerges from the IACOBUS Programme, created in 2014 by the Galicia–North of Portugal European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (GNP-EGTC), with the collaboration of the CEER Foundation, the Regional Government of Galicia, and CCDR-NORTE. The programme aims to consolidate a cross-border space for scientific and technological integration, in alignment with the Galicia–North of Portugal Joint Investment Plan (PIC 21–27) and the Cross-border Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3-T).

 

Eligible for Publication:

  • Unpublished scientific articles presenting theoretical or empirical research results;
  • Critical reviews, bibliographic essays, and interviews on topics relevant to the Euroregion.

Topics of Interest Include (but are not limited to):

  • Innovation and Regional Competitiveness: Information and Communication Technologies; Intelligent Systems; Industrial and Systems Engineering; Applied Statistics and Mathematics; International Management, Tourism, and Internationalisation.
  • Environmental Sustainability and Energy Transition: Environmental Sciences and Engineering; Technologies for energy transition; Applied Chemistry and Physics for sustainability; Natural resources and sustainable solutions.
  • Biotechnology and Health Sciences: Biotechnology and Biological Engineering; Biological Sciences and Biochemistry; Health Sciences and surveillance systems; Psychology and interdisciplinary health studies.
  • Agro-Food Science and Technology: Agro-Food Technology and Nutrition; Food Chemistry and Food Safety; Biotechnology applied to food production; Sustainable food systems.
  • Social Transformation and Inclusive Innovation: Sports Sciences and Physical Education; Health and well-being technologies; Social inequalities, work digitalisation, and public policies; Education, migration, and social movements; Communication and social development.
  • Integrated Regional Development: Territorial planning and regional balance; Development infrastructures; Cross-border cooperation and governance; Cultural and educational studies for regional development.
  • Other areas relevant to the Galicia–North of Portugal Euroregion.

IACOBUS Journal is an open-access academic journal that adheres to rigorous peer-review standards and operates under a double-blind referee system.
