Author Biography

Rui Ramos, CIEC | Institute of Education | University of Minho

Rui Ramos has a degree in Portuguese and French Teaching and a master's and doctorate in Linguistics. As well as being a member of CIEC, he is a collaborator at the Center for Humanistic Studies at UMinho. He is editor of the journal Child Studies (CIEC) and deputy editor of REDIS - Revista de Estudos do Discurso (Faculdade de Letras do Porto, Portugal, and Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil). He conducts research in Linguistics and Language Teaching. He has experience working on research projects related to language and children, and intervention projects, especially in East Timor and Guinea-Bissau, related to language teaching and the education system. His main research themes are the promotion of ecoliteracy in picture books for children and the media discourse of science communication for children. In both cases, typological issues, within the framework of textual linguistics, are central to the approach to the objects of analysis.
