Following the XXIV Autumn Colloquium (University of Minho, November 2022) that focused on Textual Heritage in the Portuguese language, we are now accepting contributions for the special issue of Volume 38.1.

The theme "Textual Heritage: Interdisciplinary Approaches" aims to expand upon the topics discussed during the event, fostering a specialized perspective within the fields of literary, linguistic, cultural, aesthetic, and philosophical studies, with a particular emphasis on the areas of philology and textual criticism.

Submitted articles should be centered on the presentation of unpublished documents, such as manuscripts, both modern and ancient, and prints in need of (re)edition, as well as texts or records from the oral tradition within any area of knowledge (Linguistic History, Literature, Food, Economics, etc.). We encourage interdisciplinary proposals that simultaneously:

1st: Present the text and its edition.

2nd: Draw on linguistic, literary, historical, cultural, ethical, aesthetic, or philosophical studies raised by the text.

3rd: Explore and provide digital access to the text or its contents.

Some suggested thematic areas include:

  • Editing and studying literary texts by Portuguese-language authors from any period.
  • Editing, studying, and/or digitally providing monolingual, bilingual, or multilingual metalinguistic texts.
  • Written fixation of oral tradition literature; international cataloging of narratives and their digital study and provision.
  • Editing, linguistic study, exploration, and digital provision of texts from various fields, such as Food History, Succession Law, Landscape Geography, and Economics, among others.
  • Editing, studying, and digitally providing texts within cultural studies, aesthetics, and philosophy.
  • Textual heritage and Digital Humanities: applying computational techniques to digital document preservation, data analysis, and visualization.
