Abstract

Starting from an aphorism by Jean Paul – “Books are voluminous letters that we address to friends” –, the epistolary novel O Pequeno Mundo (1988), by Luísa Costa Gomes, is revisited, in order to seek in it a principle of understanding of the epistolary form with friendship, from friendship to our understanding of literature, and from one another to the company of our author friends.
