Abstract

In 2021, a fundamental work came out of the press for understanding the popular and dialectal language of the northernmost Portuguese regions and its equivalence with Galician speech. This subject had already aroused the author's interest in previous works, albeit of lesser scope. The need, timeliness, and value of a book like this is corroborated by the fact that a second edition was published in a short period, at the beginning of 2022, an unusual success for a philological-linguistic research project of such breadth and depth. The book is part of a broader line of research in which the author has worked throughout his academic life, namely studies on dialectal variation.
