This essay presents parts of a study that has been done about the possibilities of experiencing, through art, moments of fissure in the accelerated time of contemporary life. The American artist Bill Viola has been dedicated to video art since the 1970s, and one of the themes that appears poetized in his installations, especially from the 21st century onwards, is the deceleration of time. The theoretical repertoire with which we look at this phenomenon comes from contemporary cultural criticism and philosophy, such as Rebecca Solnit (2016), Jonathan Crary (2016), Jacques Rancière (2012), among others. This is a speculative study.
