Abstract

Self-publishing has a bad reputation in the literary and publishing world but it has grown steadily during the Internet age. Since the invention of the printing press, author-published has evolved, changing the way we view an author and an editor. The responsibilities and tasks of both have been merging. This article explains what self-publishing is and the various types that exist; why authors resort to self-publishing and, finally, what roles the author started to play.
