Abstract

LyricLearn is a learning tool that explores the use of music to engage and motivate Portuguese students in English language acquisition. The website uses two different learning methodologies: implicit and explicit learning. Implicit learning occurs as students learn as they listen to English songs while, simultaneously, reading the corresponding Portuguese and English subtitles. On the other hand, explicit learning occurs as students complete learning activities which allow them to actively use the knowledge that was acquired while watching the videoclips.
