Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission is original and unpublished and is not under review or for publication in another journal. If this is not the case, please justify this in the "Comments to the Editor" section.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Declaration of authorship. All the contributors listed as authors fulfil all the authorship criteria. All authors have read and approved the submitted version.
  • The text follows the style and formatting standards described in the Templates provided in the Instructions for Authors.

Author Guidelines

1. SUBMISSION CONDITIONS

Originality
Ensure the article is unpublished and has yet to be previously published in any language, format, or medium.

Articles per Volume
For the same volume, submit no more than one article as the primary author and a maximum of two as co-authors.

Dissertations and Theses Articles
Declare the origin upon submission.
Submit within two years after completing and approving the dissertation or thesis.
Inform the editor about the origin and completion period in detail.

Authorship
Confirm that each author has made a substantial contribution to the work.
Ensure all authors have actively participated in writing or critical review.
Verify that all have reviewed and approved the final version.
Ensure all authors take intellectual responsibility for the content.
Agree among authors on the order of authorship.
List all authors, in the agreed order, at the time of submission.
Designate a corresponding author for communication with the journal.

Data Verification and Authorization
Be prepared to provide raw data or sources when requested.
Obtain necessary authorizations for the use of copyright-protected materials.

Retraction and Correction
Commit to reporting errors and cooperating with retractions or corrections.

Collaboration in the Editorial Process
Be prepared to collaborate in all phases of the editorial process, providing additional information and authorizations.

Style and Formatting
Follow the Journal's style and formatting instructions

File Format
Submit the article in Microsoft Word, RTF, or ODT format.

 

2. ARTICLE TYPES

Research Article (Thematic Dossier/Varia Section):
Stay under 10,000 words, including footnotes and references (excluding appendices).

Critical Reviews
Limit to 2,000 words, including footnotes and references.
Include a thorough discussion that significantly contributes to the understanding of the subject.

Interviews
Keep between 3,000 and 6,000 words.
Ensure relevance to current topics and significant contributions from interviewees in the humanities field.
Ensure the interviewee approves the final version.
All contributions must comply with the Journal's Editorial Policy (LINK).

 

3. STYLE AND FORMATTING

The Journal accepts articles in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish.
The Journal adopts the New Orthographic Agreement for Portuguese versions.

4. EDITORIAL FLOW

The editorial flow is divided into four main phases:

Submission. The manuscripts and supplementary documents are submitted via OJS followed by initial screening for suitability and quality

Review. Involving the selection of reviewers for a double-blinded peer review based on criteria like originality and relevance, leading to an editorial recommendation

Copy Editing. For technical revisions including style, writing, and formatting adjustments, with proofs sent to authors for confirmation

Production and Publication. Preparing documents for online publication, activating DOIs, and notifying about the publication


All communications, at all stages of the editorial flow, occur exclusively via the OJS platform. Authors can follow the process by logging into the system.
